The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Services announced on Monday that Perdue is recalling 12-ounce packages of “PERDUE Fun Shapes Chicken Breast Nuggets” with a “use by” date of “March 11, 2019.” The recalled products have lot codes 17009010 – 19009010. In total, 16,011 pounds of products were recalled.
The products contain milk, an allergen, which is not listed on the products. Earlier this month, Perdue was forced to recall nearly 70,000 pounds of chicken products.
According to the FSIS, The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-369” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Connecticut; Delaware; Washington, DC; Maine; Maryland; Massachusetts; New Jersey; New York; Ohio; Pennsylvania; Rhode Island; Vermont; Virginia; and West Virginia.
Officials said that the problem was discovered when a retailer noticed an incorrect label. That led to an investigation and the discovery of the mislabeled products. There have been no confirmed illnesses as a result of the product.
“FSIS is concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
